The adolescent years represent a critical time to the development and maturity of the next generation. The reality of unplanned pregnancy, however, is an ongoing crisis in the United States and specifically within minority communities. According to the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power and Potential (GCAPP) determined Georgia has the 4th highest repeat teen pregnancy rate and 18th highest teen birth rate in the nation. Looking to the latest CDC report for 2017, African American adolescent females between the ages of 15-19 accounted for â…“ of the overall birth rate within that entire year. And with 9 out of 10 births occurring outside of marriage, the challenges single young mothers face dealing with unplanned pregnancy continue to mount up.

Motherhood poses its own challenges for women of all ages, but this is especially true for those who are still growing in their womanhood simultaneously.

That’s why T.E.A.M. Mom was created!
T.E.A.M. Mom serves as a faith-centered community designed to support single young mothers as they navigate the challenges of an unplanned pregnancy. T.E.A.M. Mom accomplishes its mission by coming alongside families, ministries, and community advocates to provide guidance, resources, and hope to help families plan through the unplanned.

We believe no mother should have to walk the journey alone, regardless of the circumstances surrounding conception. While we do not endorse the behavior of premarital sex, we are driven by Psalm 127:3, which states, “Children are a gift of the Lord” (NASB). From this scriptural basis, T.E.A.M. Mom focuses on providing a safe community that uplifts the mother and her child/ren.

Our motto and charge are simple: "If it takes a village to raise a child, how much more does it take to help a 'child' raise a child?"
